WASTE MANAGEMENT

Call to Action

PlastiColors waste management approach focuses on the implementation of the three ‘’R’’s  – REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Identification of sources of waste

Sources of non-hazardous waste are:

  • Plastic waste
  • Packaging for materials received
  • Paper & cardboard products
  • Factory waste
  • Clean wood e.g. Pallets
  • Organic & kitchen waste
  • Containers (glass, metal, plastics)
  • Garden refuse

Sources of hazardous waste are:

  • Oils / Diesel
  • Metal scraps from used equipment and machinery
  • E – Waste e.g. ink cartridges

Waste Champions

PlastiColors has 3 dedicated in-house waste champions who are responsible for the following:

  • Innovation on waste management e.g. possible recycling streams
  • Staff training on recycling processes and procedures
  • Final point of sorting control
  • Collections or drop off’s to local recyclers
  • Reporting

Waste Segregation

Segregation of all waste streams by type will avoid potentially undesirable combined effects and will facilitate the reuse, recycling, recovery and/or disposal of the various wastes.

All waste categories are evaluated in line with the principle of the following three ‘’R’’s:

Reuse Initiatives: Reuse of the material in other applications is routinely examined by PlastiColors management

Recycling Initiatives: Recycling is the next option considered for the successful management of the waste streams

Recovery Initiatives: Recovery of usable material is a part of our waste minimization process.

Disposal is the final option when the three R’s are no longer applicable or practical.

Sorting takes place at source and the sorted waste is stored at PlastiColors Recycling centre. Recycling guidelines have been drawn up and placed above disposal points for ease of reference. Waste champions have been nominated to assist with maintaining the separated waste streams and keeping the Recycling Centre clean.

Contractors on site are required to manage the waste generated from their activities in a manner compatible with PlastiColors waste management plan.

Hazardous Substances / Waste Disposal
